Good morning!  Wow, what a weekend!!  I took off work last Friday to go visit my grandma in Gettysburg.  Sarah & the doggies accompanied me - it was a road trip.  It was an intense but really fun day!  I got up at 5:30am, showered, went to McDonald's to get cash (only free ATMs around), and then to Dunkin' for coffee.  I took a cab to Sarah's house down town (I don't do subways alone prior to 6:30am).  Then we went and got the van from Enterprise.  It was enormous and comical to drive.  Sarah drove to G-burg and I drove home.  Sarah also ended up putting the whole thing on her credit card b/c I don't have one.  I kind of think credit card companies are the equivalent of the evil empire, so I don't have one.  If I don't have enough in my checking account to cover something, I don't buy it.  You can keep your stupid points and miles....and your massive interest rates, and predatory policies credit card companies!!  Either way, some places like to discriminate against us evil-empire hating folks and not allow us to rent cars or stay in hotels (haters gon' hate).  Thanks, Sarah, for helping out.  You da bomb.

Anyway, so then we went back uptown, got the dogs, then went back downtown, and to G-burg.  We got to hang out with my grandma and Aunt Lisa - It was great.  We helped plant some herbs & flowers - I think it was good for my city-damaged soul.  The dogs were in HEAVEN.  Grandma got us a bunch of sweets - in proper grandma fashion.  I ate so much sugar this weekend it's outrageous!!  We picked up my parents old king-sized bed and hit the road around 5pm.  I literally have never seen the Holland tunnel so traffic-free at 9pm on a Saturday night.  Sarah must have been a good-luck charm.  We unpacked the bed and dragged it up to my apartment (Brian was at band practice).  Neither of us pulled any of our "lady parts" - something my grandmother was quite sure we would do ;-)  After returning the van, I put the bed together and went to sleep (~1am).  Brian got home a bit past 2.

Had a race on Saturday morning, then went home to Chatham for Mother's day dinner with Brian's sister & Mom - lovely.  I got Mahi Mahi with farro and kale at this nice restaurant in Morristown.  The best part of the meal were the pomegranate margaritas - I'm pretty sure they had 1million grams of sugar, but they were soooooo goood!!

We headed home that night because we had a ton of cleaning and stuff to do around the house on Sunday.  On Sunday I did 10 loads of laundry (no seriously...not kidding).  I had to wash the couch slipcovers b/c they were at hot mess.  I then ran 8 miles with Bear and then Brian and I went to bed bath and beyond for some essential stuff.  Brian went running and then made us calimari and pasta with broccoli, garlic, lemon juice, and parmesan.  Was so delicious.  I slept like a rock last night.

Anyway, I'm late for work right now so I should wrap this up.

I also wanted to say another Happy Mother's Day to my mama!  You're the best & I LOVE YOU!!  That picture of us is my favorite - I have it framed on my desk.

Carpe diem,

J!
