Good morning!  We had a GREAT weekend here in the big apple (why do they call it that?)  I was actually sick since last week, but I tried not to let it interfere with my fun too much.  On Friday, I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to infect everyone around me with the plague, so I left at about 12:30 to go home & work on my ACE.  As you can see, Bear was very helpful.  That dog literally sleeps like that most of the time.  He is SO weird.  After a few hours of working, I actually felt worse.  I felt like I needed a run.  I needed to get moving.  Plus, it was really nice out.  Since I'm training for the NYRR Mini 10k that's in 4 weeks, I had a 7 mile tempo run on my schedule.  A tempo run is where you run at a warmup pace for awhile, then "tempo" at a pace close to your goal race pace for either a prescribed time or distance (Friday it was 20 minutes), then cooldown to finish. I was all cold and weird feeling but did some jumping jacks to get the blood flowing, then actually had a great run (to my surprise!)  It always makes me feel better to get sweaty and I felt a lot better by the end of the run.  I walked the dogs when I got home and lounged around in the grass for awhile since it was such a pretty day.

When I got home, Wolt was arriving!!  I was SO HAPPY TO SEE HIM.  The dogs were going nuts.  We ordered pizza then and had a few drinks (after I hydrated hydrated hydrated).  The next day Wolt and Brian woke up early to walk the doggies in the Park.  That's their usual routine when he's in town.  I had coffee, cleaned up a bit, did the laundry, then went on a slow-as-molasses 5 mile run to shake out from Friday.  Even though it could be argued that it sucks to not have a washer/dryer in your apartment, I've now had both situations and I can honestly say I like having the washer/dryers in the basement better.  They're super industrial strength and because there are so many, you can do all your laundry at one time.  Like 5 loads in 1 hour.

It was kind of humid and rainy on Saturday so I was drenched with sweat when I got home.  Brian made me the BEST post run breakfast EVER - short stack of pancakes with butter & syrup.  He is a REALLY good pancake maker.  Then Brian and Wolt went on a run together and we started watching this show called American Horror Story on netflix.  It is ridiculously addicting.

We finished the night by going to LeftField - which is a bar on the Lower East Side where Brian's band, Gillian had their debut show!!  They were AMAZING.  Seriously.  I was blown away by how fun their music was and how well they did.  Their energy on stage was fantastic and got everybody moving.

Sunday it rained all day so we watched the entire rest of the season of American Horror Story and I made kale, red lentil, and tomato soup.

The end.

Happy Monday!

Carpe diem,

J
