Central Park East - 7:15am
Good morning! Doesn't that top picture just scream the "northeast"? First hard frost that I've noticed yet this year. Last night was a wonderful night that has left my belly upset this morning.
We had a lab party last night at my bosses house. They have a great apartment on the upper west side - seriously - great. I didn't know they made apartments that big - I've never seen one in person. I think it's because in my age bracket you live in a small somewhat crappy apartment because you have to. So in my mind, I've always thought apartment = what you live in when you can't afford a house. I also don't know anyone in NYC that lives in a nice apartment.
Now my boss is French and his wife is Turkish. They had a big wooden table out and LOTS of cheese, baguette, white truffles spread on baguette, boiled potatoes with some kind of melted cheese on them (real potatoes au gratin), red wine, and salad. I'd never had truffles before last night - holy God they are good - seriously - holy. God. We finished the night off with Gingerbread and Turkish coffee. Seriously that is one good way to eat. Cheese - just so much cheese ...and wine. We ate, drank, and were merry until the boss told us that he had to put his kids to sleep so basically go home (otherwise we would have crashed his house for awhile longer :)). Good times.
Carpe cheese
