Morning!
Hey Y'all - Happy Monday. Today is an extra-great day, want to know why?
...
Because it's a short week at work and a FUN weekend at play!! This past weekend I ran the LGBTQ Pride Run hosted by the NYRR (New York Road Running club) and Frontrunners (GLTBQ running club). Of all of the runs I've done so far, this one was by far the most fun & most spirited. There is a long way to go until we have achieved equal rights for everyone, but we're making progress. It also kicked off Pride. NYC Pride is, I believe, the biggest Pride parade & celebration in the entire world. It was a beautiful, colorful, pride-filled weekend.
On Thursday of this week we have a 4th of July Party at a friends pool in Jersey, and then we leave for the wedding of two of my dearest friends - Katie and Megan (yes...they're lesbians in case you were confused). Since gay marriage isn't legal in Pennsylvania (YET), they're getting officially married in DC (YaY DC!) then having a ceremony & celebration in Philly with all of their friends and family. I've known each of them since I first started college and have seen their relationship grow and become better every year. Megan is a 3rd grade teacher at KIP - a Charter school in Philly, and Megan works in Market Research and has a Master's in developmental psychology - she was also on the crew team at SJU. Megan was one of the most active members of SJU - she served on every possible committee, participated in tons of clubs, went to every basketball game, and served the community BIG TIME. She literally ran almost every youth-serving, community-cleaning up day, Philly anti-violence thing I could think of. They both definitley have made the world a better place just by being in it!
I'm so excited to share in their festivities! I'm also BEYOND excited to see all of our mutual friends, many of whom I haven't seen since I moved out of Philly.
I also have a video of the runkies playing chase with Brian this weekend. Just click the link below. Enjoy!
