Happy FRIDAY!

Central Park East - 7:15am

Good morning!  I'm afraid you're going to be bombarded with Daffodil pictures for a short while - I just love the little clusters of them coming up.  They remind me of little miniature forests.  The thing I love most about these Springtime flowers is that they are little strongholds of green and appetizers for what is to come amongst the starkness of Winter.  The picture below the Daffodils reminds you what it actually looks like right now - stark, barren, wet winter.

It was a bit wet today so was a little more empty than yesterday, but still significantly more people than have been out of late (yay Spring!).  We saw our friend Logan (the flat-coated retriever) with his lady.  Logan is the sweetest, most rambunctious, well-meaning (can dogs be well-meaning?), dog.  He and Sofie liked to play together until...the incident.  Seriously, she would go running up to him, then cower and be submissive, then they would smell each other, and then finally she would go running around in circles as fast as she could go, and he would chase her.  If he wouldn't chase her fast enough, or wanted her to chase him, Sofie would run and bark in his face.

Then, one day, he bopped her on the head with his paw.  It wasn't too rough.  It was enough to knock her off her feet and into a nearby fence.  She yelped, cowered, and ran under my legs.  He ran over as if to say, "Wait, no, sorry!  Keep running, I'll be better!"  But no - she was not having it.  Now, he comes to greet her almost every morning.  He jumps around in play stance, he licks her face, and ...nothing.  She stands stark against my legs.  Doesn't move.  Doesn't sniff him.  Nothing.  If he doesn't leave her alone she starts to whimper.

The most embarrassing thing about this, is that he is such a nice dog and his lady is so pleasant and always makes conversation with me.  She feels very bad that Sofie seems to be afraid of him now, and so she tries to give Sofie treats to placate her.  I think we're probably reading too much into these doggie "emotions" and trying to assign human ones to them, but it's still kind of an awkward situation.

Poor Logan, he's lost his girlfriend.

Have a fantastic FRIDAY!
