Central Park East - 7:45am
Good morning! Sorry I missed you yesterday. I have been sick with a cold this week so Brian took Sofie for her walk instead. I didn't get to sleep in, however, since I had to go to the Bentley Hotel by 8:15am to pick up the Immunology recruits and take them to Cornell. Now...you'd think that people of our age and education level would be capable of getting to the hotel lobby by 8:30am. All they have to do is get up and walk downstairs...heck we even hosted a free breakfast for them from 7:30-8:30 at the Hotel so they could wake up with some coffee and eggs. Alas, no. By 10 til 9, there were still 9 of the 23 students just missing in action. I did what any half-sick/annoyed student would do - I left their lazy-asses there. I have no patience for that!
On a good note, many of the recruits I've met seem great. It was a long day, but I really had a good time getting to know them. There were a few that were a little fake and brown-nosey, but 75% were really nice and fun. I also got a great free dinner out at Ofrenda and a cocktail hour directly preceding dinner (I don't even want to tell you how much goat cheese I ate).
The picture I took this morning shows one of the hay bales on the hill in the Park. All winter long they put these hay bales around where people could run into stuff when they're sledding. The hay bales are starting to grow grasses out of them - I'd say this is a sign it's fairly unlikely there will be any more sledding :) Spring has sprung!
Have a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Friday. I know I will. I absolutely cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow!
